Claims Auditor duties include being responsible for quality control mechanisms designed to assure compliance with regulatory agencies, addressing overall claims handling, and investigating internal claims handling.  Also, providing guidance to Claims Managers regarding internal audit findings related to specific claims handling of Claims Representatives.

Coder responsibilities include reviewing the entire medical record and assigning the correct ICD-9 and CPT codes to each data element; recording and sequencing clinical data in correct order; and contacting and working with physicians as needed for clarification of details.

Financial Coordinator duties include exploring, recommending, and coordinating the variety of financial assistance options available to patients in order to ensure the provision of the best financial resources possible for each patient.  Healthcare experience is necessary with specific knowledge and experience with Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid systems.  Necessary skills would include excellent written and verbal skills, being detail oriented, and strong organizational and time management skills.

Front Office Coordinator duties include management of the front desk, reception, and client waiting areas with a positive and professional attitude.  Also, acting as liaison with physicians, patients and other office staff; scheduling of appointments; routing incoming phone calls from multiple lines; and handling questions from callers before transferring to appropriate personnel. 

Health Unit Coordinator duties include effectively interacting with patients, families and other health team members; performing a variety of clerical duties, including updating and organizing information in the patient record; scheduling; coordinating work within departments and providing receptionist duties; order entry; and responding to inquiries for information.

Insurance Biller duties include processing medical billings to private insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid agencies on behalf of the client and the agency.  Also, reviewing and verifying of patient account information; entering data to process charges, payments, denials and adjustments; using standardized insurance disease codes (ICD-9 & CPT); and following up on problem billings to point of resolution.  Computer proficiency and 10-key by touch required.

Medical Records Clerk duties include tracking patients' medical histories and charts; ensuring proper forms are present and signed; and making certain that the medical information is correct and accessible to doctors and nurses.  Also, compiling, processing, and maintaining medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner conistent with administrative, ethical, legal and regulatory requirements.

Referral Coordinator duties include coordinating patient admissions by performing pre-admission assessment, facilitating and scheduling patients for appointments, referrals, tests and procedures.  Also responsible for medical records functions pertaining to the management of health information; supporting and assisting the physicians in providing benefit interpretations; contract agreements; healthcare guidelines; and direction of patient care.  Requires computer competency, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, knowledge of medical terminology, customer service skills, and experience in the healthcare industry.

Scheduler duties include arranging patient and physician schedules for surgical procedures; reserving patient rooms and scheduling support staff.  Requires strong computer skills, sensitivity to confidential information and excellent communication abilities. 

Transcriptionist duties include listening to tapes recorded by medical staff and typing information exactly as stated into computer files.  May use standard word processing software or customized databases.  Requires solid knowledge of medical terminology, spelling and medical abbreviations, exceptional typing speed and accurancy. 

Treatment Coordinator duties include ensuring that patients understand why they need the diagnosed treatment, assisting patients through the completion of the treatment, and obtaining a financial commitment for the treatment plan.  Additional skills include excellent oral communication skills, medical terminology knowledge, multi-tasking ability and a professional demeanor.

Certified Medical Assistant duties include assisting physicians and nursing staff in a variety of activities to ensure patient care.  Also, preparing the examination room as well as taking patient vital signs and recording vitals in patient medical chart.  Position also requires phlebotomy skills, as well as good communication skills.

Director of Nursing Services duties include managing nursing department in nursing center to maintain quality standards of care, and advising medical staff, department heads, and administrator in matters related to nursing service.  Also, assisting in helping to accomplish the financial goals of the facility by improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of nursing services and maintaining a collaborative patient work environment by fostering  cooperation among nursing services, medical staff, and support.

Licensed Practical Nurse duties include caring for ill, injured, convalescent and handicapped persons in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and other healthcare institutions.  Also, assisting physicians with procedures and preparing exam room for use; handling triage calls for physician, which includes determining emergencies, identifying symptoms, and using discretion for appointments.  Must pass state board examination and be licensed.

Nurse Practitioner (NP) duties include providing a broad range of healthcare services, including many provided by physicians.  May also serve as a patient's primary care provider while maintaining close working relationships with physicians.  Must be a registered nurse (RN) with advanced education, including a master's degree in nursing, and training in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions, including chronic illnesses. 

Pharmacist duties include assisting in helping physicians explain medicine and the positive and negative reactions to them.  Pharmacists are licensed to give medicine to people when a doctor prescribes it.  Pharmacists are experts in medicine and its side effects. 

Physical Therapist (PT) duties include working with patients who have limited use of their own bodies due to injury or disability.  A PT's goal is to reduce the patient's pain, to increase their range of motion, to prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities, and to give patient's back their sense of self determination.

Physician Assistant (PA) duties include working as members of the healthcare team, taking medical histories, examining and treating patients, ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and x-rays, and making informed diagnoses.  PA's also treat minor injuries and may also prescribe medications. Physician's Assistant are trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services, as delegated by a physician. 

Physical Therapist Assistant duties include assisting the physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures.  May also assist in the development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, and document the progress of treatment.  Requires an associate degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.

Registered Nurse duties include providing professional nursing care such as assessment, case management, administering medications, educating patients and clients under general medical direction.  Also, maintaining compliance regulations and preparing equipment and assisting physician during examinations and treatments.

Dentist duties include providing cosmetic care of hygiene and health, as well as whitening teeth.  Dentists also deal with the jaw and many invasive oral procedures.  A significant part of a dentist's job involves educating patients about the ways to preserve a healthy mouth. Dentist are accredited medical professionals who specialize in the care of teeth, gums, mouths, and general oral health. 

Dental Assistant duties include taking x-rays, chair side assistance to dentist, making impressions, and assisting with many other various expanded duties such as polishing crowns, finishing sealants, and setting up patients for the intial exam to be conducted by dentist.

Dental Hygienist duties include cleaning teeth and educating patients about preventive methods of dental care and overall oral health.  Also requires the capability to administer local anesthesia and dental imaging.

Dental Receptionist duties include answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling, filing, pulling charts, collecting money and other office duties.  Must be able to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment, be organized, have excellent customer service skills and be proficient on computers.

Dental Office Manager duties include being responsible for hiring, training and managing the office staff.  Should be proficient in coordinating doctors, presenting treatment and financial arrangements to patients, accounts payable, laboratory coordination, shceduling, marketing and have a workable understanding of clinical dentistry. 

Human Resources Administrator duties include maintaining job requirements/descriptions, employee benefits programs, and pay plan structure.  Also, assisting in recruiting, hiring, training and dismissal of employees.  Must keep accurate employment records and be knowledgeable in current government regulations.  Position requires knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.

Office Manager duties include ensuring the day-to-day management of healthcare practice.  Responsible for hiring and managing staff, developing strategic operating plan, interacting with insurance companies, handling contracts, and attending seminars to remain current with healthcare rules and regulations.  Also, overseeing all accounts receivable functions and budget for office.

Practice Administrator duties include being responsible for the administrative management of the medical clinic and its programs.  This includes collaboration with the physicians and nurses, planning and overseeing all operational and clincial activities, preparing and monitoring operating financial budget and volume projections, expediting patient flow, overseeing facility upkeep and maintenance, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and assisting with marketing and public relations.

Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician duties include performing complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.  This involves microscopically examining blood and other body fluids and making cultures to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms.  Lab Techs analyze samples for chemical content or chemical reaction and determine concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels.  They also type and cross match blood samples for transfusions.

Pharmacy Technician duties include filling orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals and performing other duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.  Pharmacy Tech duties also include keeping records of drugs delivered to pharmacy, storing incoming merchandise in proper locations, and informing the pharmacy supervisor of drug shortages. 

Phlebotomist duties include drawing blood or other bodily specimens from patients for laboratory analysis or transfusion.  Phlebotomists are trained, unlicensed allied health professionals.  Phlebotomist are often seen as a part of a clinical laboratory team, because they collect the ordered clinical laboratory specimens prior to the actual laboratory testing.

Radiologic Technologist/Technician duties include taking x-rays and CAT scans to use in diagnosing medical problems and administering non-radioactive materials into patients' bloodstreams for diagnostic purposes.  Some specialize in diagnostic imaging technologies, such as computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasound.

Respiratory Therapy Technician duties include evaluating, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders.  Also, administering specified respiratory treatment and medications, using a variety of life support equipment to treat specific patients and diseases.  Responsible for conducting electrocardiograms and cardiac stress tests; setting up Holter monitors; performing pulmonary function testing for physician diagnosis of cardiopulmonary disease; attending high-risk infant deliveries, CPR, and Trauma; and performing arterial blood gas puncture and analysis. 

Surgical Technologist duties include working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical staff to deliver appropriate patient care before, during, and after surgery.  Surgical Tech's are responsible for preparing the operating room by selecting and opening sterile instruments, assembling and adjusting.  They provide physical and emotional support for the patients prior to the surgery.
